Title "Maryland Smoking STOPS Here: Coordinating a Statewide College Tobacco-Free Initiative." Presented at the 7th National Tobacco Symposium on Young Adults, BACCHUS Network, Sacramento, CA.
Abstract: Maryland's college and university tobacco control coalitions have united to create healthier, tobacco-free campuses across the state by building relationships with other campuses, offering prevention and education initiatives, establishing and supporting policies, and sustaining diverse involvement. This program provides details on how Maryland’s statewide college tobacco-free initiative (Students Together Organizing Prevention Strategies or S.T.O.P.S.) brings together its ten campus coalitions, promotes diversity of experience, builds involvement and partnerships, overcomes challenges, effects campus tobacco policy, and uses innovative methods of statewide communication.
