Circulation Policies

 

UMBC students, faculty, and staff must have a valid school ID (UMBC red ID) to borrow books.

All other patrons must complete a Special Borrower registration form and present a current driver's license or other valid non-expired, government-issued photo ID plus proof of a local current address such as a bank/credit card statement or utility bill dated within the last 60 days. A RCLC special Borrowers card will be issued at no charge.

Patrons may borrow a total of four items.

The loan period is four weeks and materials may be renewed once by bringing the material in to be rescanned or online by signing in to the library's catalog and going to "my account." Please follow this link go to the University of Maryland Library Catalog Online.

Overdue fines are 0.50 $/day/item with a maximum of $5.00 per items.

Lost material fees are:  

$100.00 Replacement Fee
$35.00 Processing Fee
$50.00  Fine                                     
$185.00 Total per item

Items will be declared 'lost materials' after 30 days of the original due date.

After 60 days, the replacement fee of $100 will be billed to the patron who does not return the items.

We do not have any change. If you want to pay your fine in cash, please bring the exact amount. We also take personal checks (please, make checks payable to UMBC).

RCLC material may be returned at the main library.

Material may also be returned through the Book Return slot in the Room 104 door.
