The Office of the Registrar supports
UMBC faculty and staff through services provided in
the area of advising, records maintenance, scheduling
and registration.
Records
The Office of the Registrar maintains transcripts
and registration history for all students, former students
and graduates of UMBC. In addition, the office maintains
transfer credit information and academic progress reports
for undergraduate students.

Registration
The Office of the Registrar manages registration processes for
regular semesters as well as Summer and Winter sessions
in accordance with university policies and procedures.
With the exception of some special
populations and programs which may require additional
registration support, students register for UMBC courses
on-line via the myUMBC web portal. Registration authorizations
and course permissions are issued on-line by the appropriate
UMBC faculty and staff.

Scheduling
Office of the Registrar coordinates the development of class
schedules for the Fall and Spring semesters in consultation
with academic departments. Summer and winter session
schedules are developed, also in consultation with academic
departments, by the Office of Summer and Winter Programs.
Fall and Spring Semester schedules
are developed according to guidelines established by
the Classroom Committee. These guidelines include standard
time blocks into which courses are to be scheduled.

Other
Services
MyUMBC Account Generation
and Access
Faculty and staff with direct or support roles in advising
and course instruction have access to academic functionality
via myUMBC. Online services include the ability to grant
advising and course authorizations and to view class
and hold lists. In addition, My Academic Profile (MAP)
provides access to student data such as transcripts,
advising profiles, undergraduate progress reports, and
transfer credit details. Faculty and staff requiring
access to myUMBC’s academic functionality should
follow the instructions located at http://www.umbc.edu/registrar/MyUMBCFacultyandStaff.html. New faculty and staff who do not yet have access to
myUMBC should first create
an account.
Request
for Student Data
Individual student academic information can be accessed
by authorized users through My Academic Profile (MAP). Requests for other student
information used in advising, communications and departmental
planning should be submitted using the Student
Data Request Form. Requests for aggregate data regarding
student enrollment should be submitted to OIR.
