Undergraduates
At UMBC, students find many resources
to help them achieve their academic goals. The Office of the Registrar
supports students’ academic
pursuits through advising, registration and a number
of other services.
Registration
The Office of the Registrar manages registration processes for
regular semesters as well as Summer and Winter sessions
in accordance with university policies and procedures.
With the exception of some special populations and programs
which may require additional registration support, students
register for UMBC courses on-line via the myUMBC web
portal. Registration authorizations and course permissions
are issued on-line by the appropriate UMBC faculty and
staff. For more information on registration visit Registration page.
Advising
Student academic advising is a key component of the
academic program at UMBC. It promotes academic success
by ensuring student needs are met in regard to learning,
personal development, and career aspirations. The purpose
of academic advising is to assist students with life/career
goal planning, meet diverse individual needs and help
students plan major programs in a manner that will ensure
timely graduation. For more on academic advising at
UMBC visit Advising web site.
