Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)
Welcome to the UMBC Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) web site. Federal law requires that an IACUC be established at institutions which conducts research and teaching projects involving animals. The IACUC performs review of research to ensure that investigations meet federal criteria as outlined in the PHS Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals and Animal Welfare Act. The purpose of this site is to provide information about the university’s animal care and use program while facilitating access to regulations, policies, procedures, and forms related to research involving animals.
The IACUC follows many governmental and institutional animal care and use regulations and policies. Please continue to this page to learn more.
