Staff Announcement - June 3, 2009
The Office of Sponsored Programs is pleased to announce that both Deborah Waters (waters@umbc.edu) and Karen Barnes (kbarnes@umbc.edu) earned the professional designation of Certified Research Administrator (CRA) this past weekend, which brings the UMBC total to four (4) Active Certified Research Administrators, including Christina Stanger (OSP) and Jocelyn Chasis (OSP).
The designation of Certified Research Administrator (CRA) means that an individual has met the Research Administrator Certification Council eligibility requirements and has demonstrated knowledge of the fundamental information necessary for a person to be a professional research or sponsored program administrator.
The Research Administrators Certification Council was formed by the Society of Research Administrators in 1993. It is an independent non-profit organization. The Council is composed of active certified research administrators whose role is to certify that an individual, through experience and testing, has the fundamental knowledge necessary to be a professional research or sponsored programs administrator.
For more information regarding the CRA professional program including examination dates, fees, application requirements, and a sample exam, please visit http://www.cra-cert.org. The examination is administered semi-annually by the National Research Administrator Council.
