Housing Availability

Thank you for your interest in on-campus housing at UMBC. Residential Life is currently experiencing higher demand for on campus housing than in the past. Therefore, we are asking all that want to apply for housing to complete a housing wait list application. Please be aware that you will not be asked to submit a housing deposit unless we are able to offer you a space.

UMBC prioritizes on-campus housing for our youngest students who might experience the greatest adjustment to college and therefore might benefit most from our residential programs and services as well as students living furthest from campus. Many students currently on the housing wait list will not be housed on-campus. There are many resources to assist students to find living arrangements close to campus where they can be successful. Off-Campus Student Services offers comprehensive service to connect students with each-other and with living and learning environments off-campus. Please refer to their web site at www.umbc.edu/ocss

Don’t forget to RSVP if you’d like to join one of the two Off-Campus Apartment Bus Tour events on July 15th or July 22nd by clicking this link. These no-cost events will provide an opportunity for students to connect with roommates and visit apartment complexes on the UMBC Shuttle line. Many students connect and form off-campus communities of scholars to support academic and co-curricular development. Please allow us to assist you to find a residential community that meets your needs so that you can get the most out of your UMBC experience. Here are ways to connect with us and get assistance throughout the summer:

Things you can do if you are on the Waiting List:
  • Make sure your campus housing application has the most up-to-date data for you.
  • Make sure you are checking your UMBC email account regularly.
  • Make sure your contact information is updated in my UMBC so that if we mail communication to you it will be received.

We want to assure you that the staff of Residential Life and Off-Campus Student Services will work with you to help you manage this process as you prepare for the upcoming academic year.

If you have any questions, please contact us by phone (410-455-8832).
