What is RSA?

The Resident Student Association (RSA) at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County is a student-run organization supported by Residential Life that works to promote a safe and clean living environment for everyone and to represent the rights and interests of resident students on campus.

General Body - December 2004

RSA is divided into the General Body and the Community Action Boards

The General Body meets as a group every Tuesday night at 8:30 pm to discuss sponsored events and hear reports and special presentations or proposals. General Body membership is open to anyone.

There is one Community Action Board (CAB) per residence hall or community.  They plan programs that address the needs and wants of their residents on a community scale, often working with resident assistants and occasionally with other residence halls.  Meetings are open, but membership is generally limited to the residents of the hall or community.  Each CAB sends at least one representative to the weekly General Body meetings.

What are the benefits of getting involved with RSA and CAB?

Students who are involved in RSA and CAB receive numerous benefits from their involvement in residence hall government. Students have the opportunity to gain leadership experience by planning programming, working to change policy that impacts residential students, and get involved with a close knit involved group of students with tons of energy and potential. CAB members get an opportunity to make their residence hall a better place and meet new people living in the same residence hall. RSA and CAB members have the opportunity to attend regional and national conferences to bring back new ideas and enthusiasm to their residence hall.

Who can be a member of RSA?

RSA is open to all resident students. New members are always welcomed and encouraged to join.
