Mission Statement

            The Assessment and Research Coordinator is responsible for collaboratively developing and supporting a culture of assessment and research within the UMBC Division of Student Affairs. The position exists to support efforts within the division to gather, analyze, and use empirical evidence to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services and to assess their impact on student learning outcomes, student development, and retention.

 

 

Objectives

 

The Assessment and Research Coordinator for Student Affairs will accomplish this mission by:

 

1.    providing the foundation for a division wide philosophy of assessment,

2.    providing the support and education necessary for all units within the division to fully engage in the assessment of student learning, student development, and programs and services,

3.    conducting and supporting research and assessment of division-wide objectives.

 

 

Outcomes

 

1.    Staff within the Division of Student Affairs will increase their level of knowledge of and skills for conducting assessment in their department.

2.    Staff who attend professional development activities sponsored/developed by the Assessment and Research Coordinator will increase their knowledge of assessment and research topics.

3.    Divisional staff that request consultation will be satisfied with the responsiveness and quality of the service offered.

4.    Collaborative Assessment projects will be clearly articulated and successfully carried out according to agreed upon parameters.
