Wednesday, September 26, 2007 1-3 pm, The Commons, Rm. 331 Foundations of Assessment This two hour workshop is designed to be an introduction to how the UMBC Division of Student Affairs conducts assessment. Topics include the assessment cycle, divisional philosophy, student affairs learning and service objectives, ASK Standards and more. Ideal for new divisional staff, staff who need a refresher on basic concepts, and/or staff with little or no assessment background.
Tuesday, October 2, 2007 10 am -noon, The Commons, Rm. 331 ABC’s of Program Review and Using the CAS Standards Program reviews are a fundamental component of our divisional assessment plan. Learn more about how to use the CAS Standards. This session will describe the steps of the program review process and is ideal for staff in departments that will be conducting a review in the next year or so. Friday, October 26, 2007 10:30 am—noon, The Commons, Rm. 331 Introduction to Rubrics Rubrics describe levels of performance or learning. They are used to determine if students are getting what you intended from a program or service. Attendees will learn how to create and use rubrics to assess learning and service outcomes.
Fri. November 2, 2007 9-11 am, The Commons, Rm. 328 Interpreting and Discussing Your Data with Others Don’t let data sit on the shelf. Learn some easy steps you can take to begin thinking about what your data could mean. This will be a hands on session.
