Admission requirements – Master’s in System engineering

Admissions Requirements:

  • An undergraduatedegree in Engineering or Information Technology.
  • Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (Students with a GPA less than 3.0 may be admitted to the MS program provisionally or to the Graduate Certificate program.)
  • GREs and letters of recommendation are not required if you earned an undergraduate degree from an accredited U.S. university and maintained at least a 3.0 GPA.

Application Process

Applications for the Master's in System Engineering program are accepted year round. Students may enter the program in the fall, spring semester or summer session.

To apply, complete a Degree-Seeking UMBC Graduate School Application and use program code SYST.

Your application should include the following documents:

  • Completed application including residency form (The residency form determines in-state tuition eligibility.)
  • Statement of academic goals
  • Official transcript(s) from each college & university attended
  • Application fee ($50 online / $70 paper)

Financial Assistance

Graduate assistantships and scholarships are not offered for this program. However, students may apply for need based financial aid and graduate assistantships available within other campus departments.  For more information on financial aid options, click here.
