Each year, UMBC hosts the Service Awards Ceremony to honor employees who have completed
up to forty years of dedicated service with the State of Maryland and the University.
For the fourth year in a row, U.S. News and World Report’s Best College guide ranked
UMBC as Number 1 among “up-and-coming” national universities - a distinction recognizing
UMBC as a national leader in innovation and undergraduate teaching. In addition,
for the third year running, UMBC was named one of the best colleges to work for,
according to a survey by The Chronicle of Higher Education. These accolades are
possible because of the work of our employees, who strongly support the success of
our students.
