Admissions: Graduate Certificate

Admissions Requirements

Applications are accepted year-round. Students may begin certificates in the fall, spring semester or summer session.

  • A bachelor’s degree in any field (science field recommended for Biochemical Regulatory Engineering certificate)
  • Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

Application Process

How To Apply

  • Apply online
    • Select “Application for Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program”
      • For Biotechnology Management, select Biotechnology Management PBC as program of choice
      • For Biochemical Regulatory Engineering Management, select Bio Regulatory Engineering PBC as program of choice
    • Submit your statement of goals as an attachment in the “Academic Goals and Research Interests”
    • Complete residency information to be reviewed for tuition classification
  • Submit unofficial transcripts from all post-secondary institutions to UMBC Graduate School, 1000 Hilltop Circle, Baltimore, MD 21250 or email to

Applications are not sent for review until all materials are complete. A complete application will include the following documents:

  • Completed application including residency form
  • Unofficial transcript(s) from each college & university attended
  • $50 application fee
