Admission Requirements
Degree Requirements
- B.A. or B.S. in Geography, Computer Science or Information Systems -OR-
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field with GIS-related work experience
Program Requirements
Applicants should have a minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
from an accredited undergraduate program. Applicants
should also possess a working knowledge of Geographic
Information Systems. The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is not required for admission to the GIS program.
Applicants should follow the application procedures set by UMBC's Graduate School. Students applying to the M.P.S. program must submit the following information:
- UMBC graduate school application (includes personal statement)
- Official transcripts from ALL post-secondary institutions attended
- 3 letters of recommendation
- Resume outlining GIS-related experience
