Program Overview

The UMBC Department of Political Science has a long tradition of well-rounded academic course offerings and experiential learning opportunities that have served our graduates well. This program offers students the opportunity to grow and see how the lives of citizens are affected by government and politics.

UMBC’s Political Science Program at the Universities at Shady Grove prepares students for rewarding jobs in government, public service, law, and other careers. Undergraduates in this program have the opportunity to work with top-notch faculty while gaining a strong academic foundation. Additionally, the Political Science Student Organization (PSSO) conducts seminars on a variety of relevant topics throughout the year.
