Why did you choose UMBC at The Universities at Shady Grove?
UMBC at The Universities at Shady Grove was one of my choices because it was close to home and my family. On my first visit, I noticed that the campus was small and when interacting with the people they were very friendly and helpful. In learning more about the psychology program, I made the decision to make UMBC my new school.
What do you like best about UMBC-Shady Grove?
What I like best about UMBC-Shady Grove is the sense of community among my peers and classmates. We understand the hardships of being a student, which allows us to rely on each other for help and support. By the end of my first semester, I had developed a new support system that allowed for a smooth transition to a new campus.
What internships and/or extracurricular activities have you been involved with at UMBC-Shady Grove?
While at UMBC I became involved with the Psychology Student Association. In this organization we helped coordinate events and raise money for different organizations throughout the area. Additionally, I took part in the work-study program on campus and was able to further my work experience.
What are your plans after graduation?
I plan to take a year away from school to find a position where I can expand my work experience and use my newfound knowledge. I then plan to continue my education in graduate school, possibly in the field of Social Work.
What advice would you give to a prospective student?
UMBC-Shady Grove is a place where you are pushed to become the best student that you can be. The psychology program gave me the abilities to succeed in the classroom and in my future endeavors. I am proud to leave UMBC-Shady Grove with a great experience, a close network of friends, and the essential tools needed to become successful in life.
