As the new Social Work Program Director at the Universities at Shady Grove, Jane Rockwood received a BA in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and an MSW from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Although she is a licensed clinical social worker in Virginia, she has worked in Chicago, Illinois and Washington, DC.

Rockwood's professional background includes school social work, health care social work, substance abuse counseling, private practice and higher education.  As a school social worker, she has worked in pre-kindergarten, primary and secondary schools and adult education.  Her continuing interests include multidisciplinary collaboration, multiculturalism and factors contributing to student success.

During her first week at Shady Grove, she was impressed with the warm and generous welcome received from social work faculty and students and the Shady Grove staff.
