UMBC,
in collaboration with the University System of Maryland
and The Universities at Shady Grove, offers an opportunity
for transfer students to attain their educational goals
through various degree programs. UMBC has a strong relationship
with Montgomery College and other community colleges,
which makes the transfer procedure convenient and efficient.

Note
about Social Work Admission to Shady Grove
UMBC's
Baccalaureate Social Work Program at the Universities
at Shady Grove (USG) is a selective admissions program
based upon the need for students to meet the 2.5 grade
point average for entry into the program. This is also
a requirement for the social work field practicum (SOWK
480 and SOWK 482). Selective admission is defined by the
UMBC School of Social Work as a minimum grade point average
of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale with a minimum of 45 credits of
lower level (100 and 200) courses. Students not meeting
these criteria are encouraged to meet with the UMBC/USG
Program Director to learn about strategies for improving
a GPA below a 2.5 or alternative admissions pathways.
