MEET THE SCHOLARS AND ALUMNI Sherman Scholars aspire to explore and deeply understand what it means to be a teacher in a high-needs school, a responsive educator, and a leader among their peers and colleagues. The first cohort of scholars includes five female mathematicians and three male and three female scientists. Their average GPA is 3.74. We are especially pleased that eight of our scholars are currently engaged in direct youth service; four teach in high-needs schools and four are tutoring and mentoring in programs or schools that serve underrepresented youth. Our three Masters of Art in Teaching candidates are career changers who left the finance, allied health, and corporate health and wellness industries to pursue teaching in challenged schools.
