Candidates for the Sondheim Public Affairs Scholars Program complete a separate scholarship application.
Two letters of recommendation are required: one from a high school teacher, preferably in social studies, and the other from someone who knows the student well outside of school. Finalists are interviewed by a faculty committee. For more information, contact the Scholarship Office at UMBC, website .
Students must also submit an application for undergraduate admission to UMBC. The application is available from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. To ensure timely application processing, we recommend that all scholarship candidates take advantage of the early action admissions deadline of November 1.
The completed Public Affairs Scholars application and supporting materials must be returned by January 15. Final award decisions will be announced no later than March 31.
