UMBC’s widely-recognized faculty are leaders in their fields, often quoted as experts in national and local media, who contribute vital research on the most important social issues of the day.  UMBC has been named a top school for undergraduate teaching and opportunities for undergraduate research.  Students and faculty collaborate with on-campus research centers, and industry and government agencies to explore and address urgent social issues.

Sondheim Public Affairs Scholars can choose any major, given a strong evidence of public affairs interest.  Many students choose to study in one or more of the social science departments and programs at UMBC.
