Lafayette College- On November 5^th & 6^th The UMBC Men's Ultimate Frisbee Team Booya, partnered up with Goucher College to be Villains and Superheroes respectively. Saturday morning started off with a win against Muhlenberg A, who despicably weren’t in costume at all. Booya took the win 13-5 with notable plays being Zach and Maggie’s partnered D; Becky’s formidable pull; Brad’s layout D; Carlos’ beautiful deep cut and bid and Atom skying two opponents for a D. Booya’s next game against Dickinson did not go as favorably as hoped for with a hard fought loss 5-11. Highlights include a fantastic sky by Greg for a D, a brother connection huck from Carlos to Renzo who then threw for a point to Robbie; epic point blocks by Atom and Carlos; Brad’s layout catch; Robbie’s sky-age; Becky’s snake throw and Joel and Brady’s D. In the afternoon session play resumed with Booya matching up against East Strasburg University in the hardest fought game of the day losing 11-12. PJ, Carlos and Atom had superb hand blocks; Maggie, Heather, and Zach had awesome point catches; Lorenzo found the demon and got bookends; Robbie skied offenders to D a point; Brad had a layout catch; Greg made multiple pro end zone D’s. For the last game of the day, Booya decided to take on Lafayette Alumni, fresh out of the retirement home. Unfortunately they did not play with arthritis, bunions, or back pain, beating Booya 9-13. Booya did play exceptionally well with Lorenzo, Brad, Zach, Maggie and Kim skying their fair share of gramps and great D’s by Zach, Hannah, Heather and Pat. Sunday morning greeted Booya with a victory over Muhlenberg B, 15-1. Nifty points from Brady, Hannah, Banana, Atom, Joel and Pat facilitated the win. Other nasty plays include Will and PJ’s Ds and hucks for points; good flow between Pat and Brad; a nice high bid D by Atom, and vet field awareness by Banana. All in all, Lafayette’s Costume Tournament was another huge success with much learning and fantastic play by All.
