AV Equipment Request

Most classrooms on campus are now considered SMART rooms and are enhanced with AV equipment.  You can view Classroom Technology Inventory to see what technology is provided in each classroom.  If you need technology that is not provided in the classroom you are scheduled in, you can request specific AV equipment with Audio-Visual Services at avservices@umbc.edu or x5-2461.

Computer Labs & Technical Support

The Division of Information Technology (DoIT) manages UMBC's computer facilities, provides software and offers training and technical support to students and faculty.  Computer labs are located in the Engineering/Computer Science Building, Library, the Fine Arts Building, and Academic IV (B-wing).  Technical support is available for faculty through the DoIT Help Desk, located in the Engineering/Computer Science Building, Room 020.  For technial support, submit a RT Ticket through myUMBC or call the Help Desk at 410-455-3838.

Computer Account (myUMBC)
New faculty and staff who do not yet have access to myUMBC should create an account by going to the OIT website computer accounts information page. By generating a myUMBC account you have access to our myUMBC web portal and an email account, which provides you with access to the most common computing services provided at UMBC.
UMBC highly recommends that a UMBC email account is used for all academic communications.

Blackboard
Blackboard is the content management software used to post syllabi, announcements, documents, email, and related web links as well as interactive discussion boards or online quizzes & tests. Blackboard is also used for the development and delivery of online classes and to supplement face-to-face instruction. It is easy to use, and free to all faculty & students.

UMBC offers faculty training sessions on Blackboard periodically throughout the year.  To view the training sesssion calendar visit Faculty Training Schedule, Demos, and Workshops.  For additional assistance with Blackboard, see the DoIT website, or contact Deb Arnold at darnold@umbc.edu.
