| The Counseling Component of SSS offers the following to SSS participants:
- Short term personal counseling.
- Academic advising and planning.
- Career Consultation.
- Information and Referrals to on-campus and community resources; e.g., Career Development and Placement, Community Service and Outreach, Financial Aid, Shriver Center.
- UMBC Leadership Development and Community Service Involvement.

Appointments for individual sessions can be scheduled during office hours. Students can benefit from involvement on-campus by participating in a variety of activities. The counselor can assist students in this process.
Another initiative to involvement is the SSS internship program. Students can receive academic credit for being a mentor to incoming SSS participants. This can prove to be a valuable learning experience. |
