Interested in continuing to develop as a subject matter expert? Preparing to meet the requirements necessary to be eligible for a pay and grade increase? Considering a new career that will combine your love of science, math or technology with an element of community service? If so, we invite you to consider UMBC’s master’s of teaching programs in fields such as biology, chemistry, mathematics, physical science and physics.
NCATE and Maryland State Department of Education approved, our programs introduce students to pedagogy, including curriculum planning, instructional design, assessment and human development as well as a subject-specific methods course. Graduates of the programs meet all Maryland certification requirements, receive initial teacher certification in their area of specialization and extend their understanding of issues germane to teaching and learning.
With two delivery models—campus-based and school-based—our students find the class schedule that works best with their own. Learn more about UMBC’s MAT programs in STEM fields by visiting the links below.
