Our marathons are 24 Hrs of Non-Stop Anime. Held in Lecture Hall 5, this is a semesterly event. You're probably asking yourselves how we come up with 24hours of anime to watch. The time is divided up into 3 tidy 8hr parts, evenly dispursed over the full 24.
Officer Choice
Officers are in control of 8 hours of the marathon program. Each officer will be responsible for filling 2 hours at the marathon. This could be 2 anime series, an anime movie timed under 2 hours, a live-action movie timed under 2 hours, etc.
Viewer's Choice
Usually this is known as BYOA, but we give it a more official-sounding name for the marathon. These 8 hours of the marathon are the ones where you the viewer get to choose what we watch. Like in regular showings, an officer will take up to 5 nominations and then the audience will vote on what we watch. The only different is now there are 8 hours instead of 2, so if you don't bring your anime, we'll be in even bigger trouble.
Choose a Genre
This is probably the most interactive part of the marathon, as there will be 2 votes. With the generous help from our marathon committee, 10 genres will be chosen and filled with 2 titles each, and divided up into 2 5-genre blocks. I know what you're thinking: "But there's only 8 hours..." Exactly. By choosing 10 genres instead of 8, we insure that the last genre in a block isn't picked by default. The audience members will vote on a genre, and then on a title within the winning genre. But beware, because once a genre is chosen, it will disappear from the ballot for next time.
If you would like to have a hand in picking genres and the titles in them, keep your ear to the ground for the announcement asking for committee volunteers. However, keep in mind that there is a limited amount of time in which the committee can prepare for the marathon. Please join only if you're going to stay focused as this is not simply a time for people to have drawn-out conversations about anime.
