Today's Culture Taste!
Dating back to the roots of Chinese Cantonese history, "Dim Sum" is often linked to "Yum Cha" (drinking tea). What
began as local road stands that catered to weary travelers who wanted to stop by and have a
cup of tea and a bite
to eat turned into a tradition for the Canton region of China and surrounding provinces including the little island of Hong Kong. The word "Dim sum" is derived from the Chinese word
meaning brunch, and refers to small dishes of delicacies that are
home-made and steamed to delectable perfection.
Some of the most popular dim sum dishes include:
1. Char siu bao: Indulge yourself in this delicously white and fluffy bun, soff and stuffed with a sweet, BBQ pork
filling
2. Har Gau: If you love seafood, you'll surely enjoy this shrimp dumpling wrapped in a beautiful rice sheet that
just melts in your mouth
3. Siu Mai: Looks like sushi, but definitely not raw, filled with pork, shrimp and vegetables, this little roll
will make you going for seconds wrapped in an appetizing egg
sheet. Yum!
