Q: How can I join the badminton club?
A: Easy. Just email your name and email address to Jeffrey (UMBC email ID: lujeff1). Membership is open to all UMBC students, faculty and staff with no fee required to join.
2.
Q: What do we do after becoming a club member?
A: We practice. Normally, the schedule is announced through our mailing list and the on the web page at the beginning of the week.
3.
Q: Is the practice mendatory?
A: No. You can come any time you want.
4.
Q: Where do we practice?
A: In RAC arena.
5.
Q: How is the practice held?
A: The practice is self-organized. You come, check out the rackets and shuttles from the equipment desk, set up the nets, and then play with others. When you are done, put away the nets and return the rackets and shuttles. That's it! There is no coach or drills. But you do need dress up in sports clothes and shoes. Bring your student ID for the entry of RAC and the equipment checkout.
6.
Q: How come the practice does not have a set schedule?
A: Because the RAC arena is used not only for badminton but also for the games and practices of Retriever Men/Women's basketball/volleyball teams. When the RecSports arranges the schedule for the club, they are given the priority to access the courts. If their schedules are not set, the RecSports will not give us a set schedule.
7.
Q: I'm not a UMBC student. Can I participate the practice?
A: Sure, but you will have to pay a few bucks every time you enter RAC.
8.
Q: What is the skill level of the club?
A: In terms of skill level, our membership is varied. Although most are beginners, we also have a good number of advanced players. So don't hesitate, come out and join us!
