Intercollegiate Prizes

The top four USA schools will be invited to compete in the President's Cup (the "Final Four of College Chess"), this year to be held March 24-25, 2007, in Dallas, Texas.

Team place prizes: $2000-1000-500-250, plus trophies to top ten teams.

Team class prizes: $200 and trophy each to top amateur team, small school, community college, all-woman team, mixed team (two men, two women), top team U2000, U1800, U1600, U1400.

Individual board prizes: $150 and plaque each to top Boards 1,2,3,4 (by game points), and top woman (by performance rating).

Total cash prizes in Intercollegiate: $6,300

An “amateur team” is any team with no member on any chess scholarship, and no IM or GM on any scholarship. “Small school” is typically defined as a school with less than 2000 students, but any school may petition the TD to be considered as a small school. “Schools” are the entire college or university, not a subunit of the university (e.g., school of engineering). Scholastic Prizes

Team prizes: Team trophies to top 10 teams, top middle school (grades 6-8), top elementary school (grades 1-5), top all-woman team, top mixed team (two men, two woman).

Individual prizes: Winner receives four-year tuition scholarship to UMBC worth $69,416 (details and conditions). Individual trophies to top four individuals, top middle school, top elementary school, top U2000, U1800, U1600, U1400, U1200, unrated, woman.

Pan-Am Closed Prizes

Individual place prizes (Open Section): $1000-500-250-150, plus trophy to winner

Individual class prizes (Open Section): $200 each to top U2250, U2150, U2050, U1950.

Other individual prizes (Open Section): $150 and plaque each to top college alternate, faculty/coach, woman, and top scholastic faculty/coach, woman.

Individual place prizes (U1800 Section): $400-200-150.

Individual class prizes (U1800 Section): $150 each to top U1600, U1400, U1200, unrated. No unrated may win more than $200 in the U1800 section.


Total cash prizes in Closed: $4,800 (Open Section - $3,450, U1800 Section - $1350)


Game Prizes (Common to All Events)

Chronos game clock each to Best ending, Best combination, and Greatest upset (in terms of FIDE ratings or equivalent).

All game prizes will be selected by the commentators from among those games submitted by players seeking the prize. All game prizes courtesy of The Chess House.


Exhibition Match Prizes

Total Cash Prize in Exhibition Matchs: $2,000


Pan-Am Blitz Prizes
