What
Learn chess from members of the championship UMBC Chess Team. Play chess with your friends. Become part of an Arbutus Middle School Chess Team to compete in local and national events.

When
During the after school activities period (3–4pm), whenever the activities bus runs (typically Tuesdays and Thursdays). Additional meetings most Tuesdays for walkers and students with rides. Begins September 18.

Where
Arbutus Middle School cafeteria.

Why
Chess develops problem-solving and logical thinking skills. Chess is a fun, exciting intellectual sport. Chess improves schoolwork and grades. Chess develops logical thinking. Chess develops memory.
