Format
Four-Round Swiss System (SS) in two sections: Quick Rated Open, Unrated Novice. Everyone plays four games. Top players from Open advance to an Exhibition Match Playoff with move-by-move sports commentary. Players must bring their own regulation sets and clocks.
Quick-Rated Open Section. 4-SS. G/20mins. (USCF membership required*). Trophies to top ten finishers, top individuals (elementary, middle, high), top schools (elementary, middle, high).** Top four players, and anyone with a perfect score, advance to the playoff.
Unrated Novice Section. 4-SS. G/20mins. (USCF membership not required.) Trophies to top ten finishers, top individuals (elementary, middle, high).
Unrated Playoff. Single-elimination G/10mins (2-sec delay), two games per match. Ties broken by 5mins-4mins “shootout” in which White with 5mins must win.
Schedule
Registration: 8am–9am
Rounds: 10am, 11am, 12:30pm, 1:30pm
Lunch: 12–2:30pm
Exhibition Match: 2:30–4:30pm
Coaches’ Sessions: 10:15am–1:45am, 12:45pm-2:15pm
Registration and Entry Fee
Free entry to any Maryland student. $20 per person for non-residents. Checks payable to UMBC;

Byes: ½ bye available in Round 1 only.

Lunch
Free box lunch to first 300 Maryland students and coaches who register by April 25. Non-residents
may purchase box lunches for $10 each, if ordered by April 25.
Directions
Take Exit 47B off I-95 and follow signs to UMBC. Park in Lot 9 or 16.
