Accomplishments I've been riding since I was old enough to sit on a horse. My first pony, a Welsh X named Chablis, is retired and living on my farm as a lawn ornament/occasional trail pony. She evented through Training , she's 22 now and I've had her since she was 9. I raised her daughter, Madeira (Maddie), who is now 9. I broke her myself and we are now eventing Intermediate, even though she's only 14.2 hands and has no breeding that should be an event horse (Morgan, Welsh Pony, and maybe a little bit of Arabian). I bought a little farm in VA and live there with my horses, the goat, and a horse or two I have in training.
I won USEA Area II for Training level in 2005 and finished 6th in the entire USA with Maddie. In 2006, we finished 5th in Area II for Preliminary. We have qualified for both the Area and National Championships in 2005-2008. I am most proud of the fact that we have completed two CCI* (international 3-day events) against some of the top riders in the country! Maddie has developed a sort of following; she stands out at events since the next closest competitior at her level is at least a hand taller! People have dubbed her the "Wonder Pony". She is a once-in-a-lifetime horse and I have loved every minute of our years of competition!
Goals My major goal now is competing Maddie at Intermediate this fall, even though the fences are bigger than she is! I have met almost every goal I set out for with Maddie, which is an entire accomplishment in itself. I've had people tell me if she were a hand taller, she would have been my Olympic horse. I want to take her to a few more CCI* (one stars) and get some awesome placings! I want my dressage scores to continue to improve. Eventually, I want to get a baby out of Maddie and do the whole process all over again!
As for the club, I'm always willing to take the members out for an XC clinic!
