Weekly Meetings

UMBC Go Club officially meets Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Student Organizations area, nearby the Game Room in the Commons.  We are there 4:00pm until midnight.

During the day and most evenings, every day at UMBC, one can almost always find another go player in the Commons.  They are usually in the Student Organizations area and occasionally in the Game Room.  Just look around and find someone and ask them for a game.  Come hang out in the ‘orgs’ or the game room between classes, play some games, and show your support for our club.  Any questions please e-mail us.

 

Baltimore Go Club

Every Sunday at 7.30 pm, the Baltimore Go Club meets at Hillcrest Elementary School, which is very close to UMBC.  The UMBC Go Club members usually attend every week.

 

Internet Go  -  KGS

The UMBC Go Club frequently plays on KGS.  CGoban3, a java client that accesses the KGS Server, can be obtained here.
We mostly play in the English Game Room, but there is also a UMBC Go Club room, under room lists>clubs where we also play and chat.

KGS is great because it allows people to play go anytime, and also keeps a record of all the games you play.  A game record is good because stronger players can review your game and show you your mistakes, and how to improve.  KGS also keeps track of your rank, which is helpful in determining the correct handicap to play other players.
