Habitat
for Humanity is having its annual trip to Florida to build houses for those
in need of decent housing.
The
trip will take place the week of March 15th. We are hoping to have 20 volunteers this
year. We are going to go to Flagler Habitat for Humanity, in Bunnell, FL.
We
will drive down on Sunday in minivans with 4-5 people per van. From Monday to Thursday we will work on a
house, building it up from the foundation. We could be working on framing,
flooring, trim, painting, etc. Since
we are working 4 days straight we will see a big progression of the house.
We
will be staying at a church in the area with a place for us to prepare
meals together. We will be sleeping
on the church floor, so we will need to bring pads, sleeping bags, and
pillows. On Friday we are free to do
whatever, there is a beach nearby and St. Augustine is also close. We will drive back Saturday.
There
is a $280 fee for the trip to cover transportation and food.
We
will be doing fundraising between now and the trip. Those who participate and are going on
the trip will have their fee reduced.
If enough money is raised, the fee could be reduced to $200 for
everyone. Information about these
fundraisers will be sent out through the habitat list and to those who have
shown interest in the trip.
All
spots for the trip are currently full but there is a short waiting list. If you would like to be added, please
contact James McFall (contact info)
