What is the NAACP?
The NAACP has been in existence since 1909, thus, making it the United States' oldest civil rights organization. Since its inception, the NAACP has been a passionate and influential presence in the fight for human and civil rights of all people. Through the collective efforts of thousands, the NAACP has continued to challenge the United States' political and economic establishments in order to make changes that will provide all Americans with an equal opportunity to succeed. Today, the NAACP has chapters throughout the world and its members include people from all races, nationalities and religious denominations who are committed to the premise that all men and women are created equal.
What is the NAACP's Mission?
The mission of the NAACP is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic rights of all people. The organization intends to meet its mission by improving the status of minorities; inspring, motivating, and creating interest in civic activities; providing understanding of issues pertinent to social conditions; and ultimately training a new generation of American political leaders and community activists with diverse perspectives.
