The University of Maryland-Baltimore County is proud to field the newest collegiate wrestling program in Maryland. UMBC now fields a wrestling team for the third year in a row that is a member of the National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA). The NCWA consists of nearly 150 schools and is the national organization for wrestling programs that have club or varsity status.

We believe that UMBC Wrestling provides a viable opportunity for Maryland high school wrestlers who want to continue their wrestling in college at a top flight local university.

The UMBC squad is made up of student-athletes almost all of whom wrestled at Maryland high schools. Last year the team placed second of 15 schools in the Mid-Atlantic Wrestling Conference and 28th at the NCWA Nationals held at the University of Texas, Dallas. Currently the Retrievers are battling tough against nationally ranked teams in dual competition and have beaten an NCAA D-III team.

The goal of the UMBC wrestling program is to become competitive at the top, national level of the NCWA, by producing NCWA All-Americans and National Champs.
