His video tapes have been exhibited extensively, including the Whitney Biennal and aired on PBS’s "New Television Series", as well as notable cablecasts and international broadcasts.

Internationally, Sturgeon has participated in numerous exhibitions and symposiums, such as: Castle of Imagination- international meeting of performance artists, Poland; Symposium Moor '92, in Germany, ISEA - the International Symposium on Electronic Arts, the 1976 Biennale of Sydney, Second Link-Video 80's at the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam & the Institute of Contemporary Art, London, Third Videonale Bonn, Germany, Videobrasil, Festival Fotoptica Museu da Imagem e do Som, Sao Paulo, Brazil and The Museum Moderner Kunst, Vienna, Austria.

Sturgeon’s art work is included in the collections of major museums and institutions throughout the world. For thirty years, he has exhibited and lectured internationally on his work, including two "Video View Points" lectures at The Museum of Modern Art, NYC as well as conceiving and chairing a College Art Association panel on experimental media and issues of politics, economics, and content.
