HOW TO SUBMIT PREREQUISITE COURSE VERIFICATION

 

You must submit documentation from your home institution to verify that you have taken (or are currently taking) the equivalent course(s) to satisfy UMBC prerequisite requirements.  Once UMBC confirms you have met the equivalent prerequisite requirements at your home institution, you will be given permission to register.

 

OPTION 1:

You Completed the Equivalent Prerequisite Course Prior to Spring 2014

  • Go to "Contact Us"
  • Under “I Have a Question About,” select “Course Permission / Prerequisite Clearance”
  • In Message screen, include:
    • COURSE NUMBER(s) & NAME OF COURSE(s) you wish to enroll in at UMBC.
    • COURSE NUMBER(s) & NAME OF COURSE(s) from your home institution that meets the equivalent prerequisite requirements for the UMBC summer course.
    • SEMESTER/YEAR the course was taken and final grade received.
  • Attach an UNOFFICIAL copy of your transcript.
  • SUBMIT your request electronically
  • After you submit your request, you should receive an e-mail confirming that your request has been successfully submitted.  Note:  If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail, please contact Tim Lynch at lynch@umbc.edu

Your transcript will be reviewed by the appropriate academic department, and you will be contacted when you are granted permission to register.

Once you receive permission to enroll, please register as soon as possible.  Receiving permission to enroll does NOT guarantee you a seat in the course.

 

OPTION 2:

You are Currently Enrolled in the Equivalent Prerequisite Course in Spring 2014                

  • Go to "Contact Us"
  • Under “I Have a Question About,” select “Course Permission / Prerequisite Clearance
  • In Message screen, provide:
    • COURSE NUMBER(s) & NAME OF COURSE(s) you wish to enroll in at UMBC.
    • COURSE NUMBER(s) & NAME OF COURSE(s) from your home institution that meets the equivalent   prerequisite requirements for the UMBC summer course.
  • Attach an UNOFFICIAL copy of your transcript and written documentation from the instructor of the equivalent pre-requisite course you are currently taking (including the instructor’s e-mail address) confirming that you are making satisfactory progress in the course.
  • SUBMIT your request electronically
  • After you submit your request, you should receive an e-mail confirming that your request has been successfully submitted.  Note:  If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail, please contact Tim Lynch at lynch@umbc.edu
