  The  Skeletal  System
When some people think of the word skeleton they immediately think of the little decorations that are hung around during Halloween time. The skeleton isn't that -- it's way more.Your skeleton provides shape and support to your body. It also allows bodily movements to occur.Your skeleton also protects your internal organs(ex: your skull protects your brain and your breastbone & ribs form a protective cage around your heart and lungs). Another thing that your skeleton does is store certain materials until your body needs them.It also produces blood cells. Blood cells are made in marrow. The marrow is located in the bone. Blood cells don't live forever so whenever they die the marrow makes more.
Thesis Statement-How is the skeletal system different from all the other systems in your body? It is quite simple -- the skeletal system deals with the bones in your body.Your skeleton is the framework of your body.
The Division Of The Skeletal System
The human skeleton is divided into two distinct parts the axial skeleton and the appendicular skeleton.

Appendicular

The breaking and healing of bones

Bones are made of a mix of hard stuff that gives them strength and tons of living cells which help them grow and repair themselves. If bones weren't made of living cells things like broken toes or arms would never mend. The older a person is the longer it takes for a bone to heal. A child may recover in a few weeks, but for an elderly person it may take severly months. An arm can heal in a month a leg may take 6 months.Once a bone mends it's stronger than before.
