Students interested in majoring in acting
are not required to audition for entrance into our B.A. in Acting
program. They should contact the Theatre department to inform
us of their interest so that they can be advised and space will
be made available for them in required theatre courses. All
actors enter the B.A. program. In their second semester
those who are interested may apply to the department to enter
the B.F.A. in Acting program. Students wishing to apply for
merit scholarships must audition.
Each audition takes 20-30 minutes during which time students will
perform a monologue and have an opportunity to do some improvisations
with current students. For information about theatre merit scholarships,
such as the Fine Arts Award or the Linehan Artist Scholar program, see
Merit Scholarships.
For tips for a successful
audition, please read our
Acting
Audition Guidelines.
Students interested in areas of design and production do not
require a portfolio review. We do recommend that you contact
our design faculty and that you attend our productions. Our
Frequently Asked Questions
page will answer many of your questions.
The best way to learn about our program is to come to
campus, visit classes and see our theatre productions. We
welcome you into any classes with advance notice. To arrange
a visit, schedule an audition or an appointment to meet with
one of our faculty, contact the Theatre department at: 410 455-2917
or fill out the
