Shelley Steffens Joyce has been at U.M.B.C. since 1990. She teaches Introduction to Costume, Production Techniques, Draping and Pattern Drafting , in addition to supervising the construction of costumes for Theatre Department productions. Ms. Joyce has worked in many professional theaters around the country, including The Goodman Theatre in Chicago, The McCarter Theatre in Princeton, New Jersey, Arena Stage in Washington, the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre , Center Stage in Baltimore, and the Indiana Repertory Theatre. As a member of I.A.T.S.E. Local 487 she has worked on major motion pictures and television shows in the Baltimore/Washington area, including Homicide, Life on the Streets, Washington Square with Maggie Smith and Albert Finney, and Contact with Jodie Foster, and John Waters’ Cecil B. Demented.
