Shakespeare on Wheels brought summer theatre to communities across Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and neighboring states from 1985 to 1995. Founded and directed by professor William T. Brown, Shakespeare on Wheels utilized an ingenious portable stage mounted on a flatbed trailer to provide high quality Shakespeare productions. The program enabled students to learn the techniques of touring theatre and ceased operations shortly before the retirement of Professor Brown, now a professor emeritus.
