The Galleries at The Commons are unique spaces dedicated to exhibiting art in a variety of mediums. They are accessbile spaces for UMBC students to display and learn as well as to showcase UMBC and visiting artists' works. Through diverse shows, cultural exhibits, collaboration with the art department and programs related to current exhibitions, the gallery environment promotes appreciation, understanding and growth to patrons of The Commons.

Art Week takes place every spring semester, and is an entire week dedicated to the celebration of the arts. The event pools the collective resources of a variety of student organizations. This week-long event typically includes performance art and dance demonstrations on Main Street in The Commons, evening roundtable lecture/discussions with faculty and staff, as well as an exhibit of student artwork in the Gallery on Upper Main, the Mezzanine Gallery, and on Main Street itself.

Visual Aid is our annual arts showcase. Sponsored by commonvision: UMBC Print & Copy Center, Visual Aid has grown to exhibit work of art in various mediums, including drawings/sketches, painting, and video.
