Basic Project Management for Technical Professionals Workshop - The Basic Project Management Workshop is designed for the first-line project manager or project leader.  This workshop covers those subjects the leader must know in order to plan, schedule, and control a project.  These subjects include estimating techniques, PERT and Gantt charts, resource allocation, status reporting, etc.  All information is presented by a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and is consistent with PMI’s PMBOK©.

Project Management: A Systems Approach - Project management has emerged as a profession with industry-recognized certifications and a corresponding body of knowledge. Most project managers today, however, have been forced to learn on the job, with little or no formal training on how to effectively manage a project.

Project Management: A Systems Approach provides participants with a solid foundation of the project management skills and techniques needed to initiate, plan, control, execute, and close out projects successfully on time and within budget. Within each of these phases there are numerous documents and tasks that must be successfully orchestrated and executed to result in a successful project. And while many Project Managers have proficiency in some of these areas, few have mastered all of them. The goal of this program is to fill in these gaps.

PMP Certification Preparation - PMI's Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification is the preeminent professional credential for individuals associated with project management. This course provides students with the training, the materials and the support to prepare for the challenging PMP examination. Completion of this course qualifies as the formal education requirement to sit for the PMP examination. Course materials for this class include Rita Mulcahy’s PMP Exam Prep, 4th Edition.

Microsoft Project 2007 Workshop - A successful project is one that comes in on time, within budget, and meets established quality standards.  Every project manager knows that effective management of tasks and events is vital to a project, from inception through completion.  Many project managers have begun to rely on software tools to assist in the management of their projects.  MS Project is a project management tool that facilitates assembly and tracking of projects, and enables project managers to quickly reconfigure plans as needed.  Because of its sophisticated functionality, MS Project has become one of the most widely used project management tools.

Using Earned Value Management to Measure Project Performance - Successful project managers make effective project plans.  Then they control those plans by carefully monitoring, measuring, and managing cost, schedule and quality. One effective technique that is used by these managers is Earned Value Management (EVM). This one-day workshop provides participants with the concepts, formulas, and processes needed to develop an effective Earned Value Management method. Armed with this method, participants will be able to accurately assess project status, foresee early-warning signs of project slippage, take corrective actions and report relevant information to varying stakeholder groups. Lastly, participants will gain can insight into how to implement EVM in their organizations.

Project Management Workshops for Organizations

New! Customized Project Management Certificate Program

Creating High Performance Project Teams - Today’s project teams require employees who are empowered to operate freely, think and respond creatively, and contribute in their own way. Through lecture, discussion, learning instruments and extensive role-playing exercises, participants will be introduced to the differences between a traditional project team and a contemporary team arrangement. They will also gain experience in forming and directing team efforts and learn skills to make the team effective.

Effective Communications for Successful Projects - With the great amount of diversity present in the workplace today and the rapid pace of organizational change, effective communication skills are critical for success, and essential for members of a project team.   The ability to concisely package and deliver a targeted message to a specific audience is one of great value, sought after by employees and employers alike.  For some, being a strong communicator comes naturally, while for others, it is a life-long struggle.  For most of us however, we fall somewhere in the middle.  Effective communication is something we strive to develop and improve in our daily relationships with colleagues, friends, and family. Through a combination of lecture, exercises, role playing, and self-evaluation, this course introduces strategies for members of a project team to develop effective communication skills.  Catering to different learning and communication styles, this course enables participants to examine their style of communicating with others, take steps to improve their interpersonal skills, and change their communicative behaviors.

Project Estimating - This workshop is designed to prepare participants for the challenges of estimating, to provide them with a model for estimating throughout the project lifecycle, and to provide them with tools and techniques that can be used to create reliable estimates.
