Overview

The CBAP Preparation course is an instructor-facilitated review of the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK®) for the purpose of preparing for and successfully completing the CBAP® application process and certification exam.

The primary purpose of this five-session course is to enable students to pass the CBAP® certification exam.  Also, students will be able to apply what they have learned to their daily activities.  This is achieved by a combination of classroom instruction, engaging exercises, student participation and exchange of ideas.

In addition, students will receive guidance with completing the CBAP® application.  While this may be daunting, the application is another tool for understanding and reinforcing the knowledge areas, tasks, techniques and competencies that make up the BABOK®.

Learning Objectives

Objectives are related to the BABOK® Version 2.0.  Upon completion of the CBAP Prep Course students will be able to:

  • List and explain the structure of the BABOK®, essential concepts and definitions.
  • Identify knowledge areas, related tasks, and the rationale for these tasks
  • List inputs, outputs and various elements for these tasks
  • Identify techniques, their strengths and weaknesses, and their relation to tasks
  • Identify underlying competencies and how they relate to the rest of the body of knowledge.
  • Create scenarios that demonstrate the inter-relationship between various knowledge areas, tasks and techniques
  • Understand the steps to complete the CBAP® application and how to use the application as a study tool
  • Apply the knowledge gained in daily business analyst activities.
