Course Description | Outline | Engineering HomeOverviewThe International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) is a highly sought after certification for those engineers seeking recognition for their education, experience, and knowledge in the highly competitive field of Systems Engineering. Obtaining a CSEP is not easy, but that is what makes it so valuable. You have to demonstrate your real world experience via a lengthy application and three references. Then you need to pass a two-hour, 120-question, multiple-choice exam. This course helps prepare potential candidates for this demanding process by becoming familiar with the INCOSE SE Handbook version 3.2 which is the basis for the examination. Students will also learn the requirements for a successful CSEP application. Upon completion of this class, the participant will:
Instructor Mr. Martin has more than 25 years experience as a General Engineer specializing in Systems Development and Procurement in the Defense Acquisition community. He has earned a Master of Science in Systems Engineering along with a Certificate in Software Systems Engineering from George Mason University in 1994. He also has a DAWIA Level III certification in Systems Planning, Research, Development and Engineering. He is presently working as a Senior Systems Engineer for Serco, Inc. He is also an Adjunct Professor of the UMBC College of Engineering and Information Technology, Systems Engineering Graduate Programs where he teaches ENEE 663: System Implementation, Integration, and Test. If that wasn't enough, he is also the Communications Director for the Chesapeake Chapter of INCOSE. Since March 2007 he has been an INCOSE “Certified Systems Engineering Professional” and this past year became an IEEE Senior. Although not a requirement the student is encouraged to join INCOSE. INCOSE members will be able to get the latest information on the CSEP process and INCOSE System Engineering Handbook, via INCOSE Connect. Auditing Privledges UMBC Training Centers offers students the ability to audit courses should you need to repeat the training. Students who attend at least eighty percent of classes are allowed to take the course again, free of charge, within one year.
