Principles and Practices of Engineering (PE) Exam Preparation
These interactive courses are designed to prepare the practicing engineer for the PE (Principles and Practices of Engineering) exams. Review courses for the PE disciplines are intensive, with an emphasis on problem solving and testing strategies. Materials and sample problems are based on guidelines from the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES). At the end of these courses there is a mock testing session to simulate the actual PE examinations.
Course materials/notes are provided by the instructors and are included in the cost of the course. In addition to the course materials provided, students should have access to the following textbooks:
- PE Civil: Civil Engineering Reference Manual by Michael R. Lindeburg, PE, with accompanying Solutions Manual
- PE Electrical: Electrical Engineering Ref Manual for the Electrical and Computer PE Exam 7th Edition by John A. Camara with accompanying Solutions Manual
- PE Mechanical: Mechanical Engineering Reference Manual by Michael R.
Lindeburg, PE, with accompanying Solutions Manual
These texts can be purchased through www.amazon.com or directly from the publisher at www.ppi2pass.com. The publisher's website also has information on becoming certified.
PE Civil
PLEASE NOTE: The NCEES has recently changed the content of the PE Civil Exam. Most of these changes have been incorporated into the UMBC Training Centers class. However, because there are limited instructional resources currently available for the new Construction section of the exam, this information will not be covered by live lecture in this class. All students, however, will receive a copy of the Kaplan Certification License Review Manual (which includes a chapter on the new Construction section) and a copy of the NCEES Problems and Solutions manual which includes 20 problems and solutions related to the Construction section of the exam.
