David Warner – Essentials of HR

                                                       

 

David Warner is the founder and CEO of KTD Consulting, LLC (KTD), a service connected disabled veteran owned business (SDVOB) located in Frederick, Maryland. KTD is a full service human resource and accounting consulting firm with over 35 years combined experience.

David has over 20 years management and training experience in both large and small organizations in the public and private sector. He specializes in organizational development and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). David is a certified workplace mediator through George Mason University’s Northern Virginia Mediation Service and has over 250 hours of experience with public and private clients throughout Maryland. His role in helping organizations deal with conflict has been facilitating large and small groups as well as individuals to reach mutually agreeable solutions to their conflict. David is currently attending Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School to complete a Graduate Certificate in “Skilled Facilitation.”

In addition to his ADR work, David is experienced in organizational design and workforce development. His current work as an HR consultant for private and federal clients involves general human resource and management consulting, strategic planning, developing competency models and performance assessment tools. David is also helping executive management develop succession planning tools to address organizational challenges.

Mr. Warner is actively involved with the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) and has been the Director of Professional Development for the Montgomery County Maryland chapter for the past two years. David has recently been appointed to the Maryland State Council of SHRM as the Workforce Readiness Chair. His primary focus will be working with educational institutions, businesses, and public organizations across the state to help promote the human resource profession, to establish student chapters, and to help ensure that the workforce is prepared to meet the demands of organizations.

David is also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars has co-founded a non profit foundation to work with Military Americans and their families dealing with transition and employment issues as well as personal well being.

David teaches the Human Resource Essentials course for the University of Maryland at Baltimore County and volunteers time as a mediator for the Maryland Human Relations Commission in Baltimore, Maryland and CALM of Frederick.

David holds a Bachelors of Science in Human Resource Management with a minor in Business Law and a Masters of Human Resource Management from University of Maryland University College. He served in the United States Army and is a combat decorated veteran with 4 overseas tours. He lives in Frederick, Maryland and is very proficient in the German language.

Karen Burton – PHR/SPHR

Karen E. Burton, SPHR, is the Director of Executive Recruitment for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration Central Office in Washington, DC, where she has responsibility for recruitment for senior level positions in VA.
Ms. Burton brings over 32 years of federal HR and training experience with her. She has worked as an HR generalist, employee and labor relations specialist, HR chief, and a Network HR manager at several VA facilities located throughout the United States.

In addition, Ms. Burton has been responsible for human resources training in the VA “Nuts and Bolts” supervisory training, development and presentation of training for human resources related topics throughout the VA, and numerous other staff development initiatives.

Ms. Burton has served as the agency representative for the VA on several adverse action cases before the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB), with a 100% agency sustained record. In addition, she has often been called upon to serve in investigative, advisory, and educational roles related to human resources across the VA.

Ms. Burton obtained her certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from the Human Resources Certification Institute in May 2003.

Nadine Johnson – PHR/SPHR

Dr. Nadine Johnson is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources and her current profession is a Human Resources Development Specialist.  She is responsible for managing leadership training programs for the Internal Revenue Service’s Appeals Learning & Education Division.  She earned her Ph.D. through Capella University where her area of study was Organization and Management with a focus on Leadership.  Dr. Johnson teaches online graduate and undergraduate training courses and human resources non-credit courses for various colleges and universities.  She also teaches the Human Resources Certification Institute’s Professional/Senior Professional (PHR/SPHR) certification preparation course.
