Overview

This introductory course in object oriented programming explores Sun’s Java and covers basic problem solving and programming fundamentals. The course is practical, with many examples and programming exercises. Students taking this course will receive a solid basis in the Java programming language upon which to base continued training and career development.

Target Student

This course is the ideal starting point for individuals with little or no programming experience, or with prior experience in other programming languages, who wish to pursue a career in software and/or Web development using Java. Java programmers are in high demand in both corporate and government IT departments.

Optional Certification Preparation

This course helps prepare students for the Oracle Certified Professional, Java SE 6/SE 5 Programmer Certification (formerly the Sun Certified Java Programmer [SCJP]).
