Overview
UMBC Training Centers offers a comprehensive series of Linux courses, ranging from fundamentals to advanced system administration and security. Our courseware is developed by Guru Labs, the premier developer of Linux courseware. Courses are regularly updated to ensure they support the latest versions of popular Linux distributions such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server. The courses map well to industry Linux certifications, including CompTIA Linux+, Red Hat Certified Technican (RHCT), and Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
Courses
- Linux Fundamentals (GL120)
Essential skills needed to be proficient at the Unix or Linux command line. A solid foundation for other Linux courses.
- Enterprise Linux System Administration (GL250)
Installing, configuring, securing, and maintaining Linux systems. Critical knowledge for every Linux administrator.
- Enterprise Linux Networking Services (GL275)
Configuring and securing a wide range of network services: DNS, LDAP, HTTP, FTP, SMB/CIFS, SMTP, POP, IMAP with Bind, OpenLDAP, Apache, Squid, vsftpd, Samba, Sendmail, Postfix, Dovecot, and Cyrus.
- Linux Troubleshooting (GL314)
Learn troubleshooting by troubleshooting; 25% lecture, and 75% lab.
- Linux Shell Scripting (GL375)
Skills necessary to automate tasks on a Unix or Linux system.
- Network Security (GL510)
Begins by teaching the tools and techniques used to infiltrate networks. Course focus then moves to an in depth analysis of Network Intrusion Detection tools, and firewall services.
- Enterprise Linux Security Administration (GL550)
Focuses on using the latest advances in Linux security to secure both the base OS, and a collection of the most popular applications. Advanced security technologies such as Kerberos and SELinux are covered.
- Linux for Unix Administrators (GL615)
A fast paced combination of the Enterprise Linux Systems Administration (GL250), and Enterprise Linux Networking Services (GL275), geared toward experienced Unix administrators. Particular focus is given to translating Solaris and HP-UX skills to Linux.
